Byron Bell talks about taking over for Jordan Gross, what he says to his doubters, and how he has grown as a leader.
After losing Jordan gross to retirement there has been some doubters of Byron Bell as he takes over at left tackle so we ask what he has to say to those people that might not think he’s ready to play in this league.
“I just have to go out here and do my job…throughout the course of the game its not going to look pretty there’s going to be some ups and downs but I have to get back to even keel and do my job”
The Panthers aren’t known for starting off the season hot so we ask the new left tackle what winning in week 1 means.
“Opening up the season with a division game is crucial…because winning in week 1 in Tampa can affect us in week 16.”
Taking over for longtime Panther Jordan Gross wasn’t easy so does it bother Byron when people say he wont be as good as him?
“Not really it comes across my way every now and then…my opinion is I don’t really care who likes Byron…the people that do speak to me I speak back, I’ll take pictures you never know I might pay for your meal.”
Chemistry is important for an offensive line. So does this line have the chemistry it takes to win?
“Yeah are a tight knit group…if there is a problem we talk it out…we all have a starters mentality from the practice squad to the guys coming off the bench. anyone can be up at anytime”
